This sculpture was completed during a residence in Zermatt, Switzerland. It depicts the Matterhorn and the wild roses growing in the mountains. It is done in memory of the
hundreds of guides and tourists who perished in pursuit of the summit.
The sculpture is dedicated to the famous mountain guide, Herrn Ulrich Inderbinen, who I met while executing this work in Zermatt. At that time he was 102
years old, and he made his last ascent of the Matterhorn at the age of 90 years.
